HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) -- The race for Hancock County Sheriff was a contest between incumbent Scott Gittings and challenger Dezso Polgar.
After Tuesday night's election, Sheriff Gittings has successfully retained his position.
He takes pride in the accomplishments achieved during his first term. Gittings noted improvements in drug arrest rates and significant department equipment upgrades.
With over 40 years of experience in law enforcement, Gittings has worked for the New Cumberland and Chester police departments as well as the Hancock County Sheriff's Office before his retirement.
During his campaign, Gittings expressed his commitment to continuing efforts to combat the drug issue within the county and to establish a program aimed at helping juveniles within the justice system redirect their lives toward success.
