WEIRTON, W. Va. (WTRF) - West Virginia Treasurer, Larry Pack, visited the Northen Panhandle Monday afternoon, making several stops in Weirton, W. Va.

During his visit, 7News asked if his office had heard from the city or the Weirton Area Water Board (WAWB) regarding the water crisis and if they’ve requested any money.

He said they’ve heard about the water crisis and said the City of Weirton and the WAWB are working with the Water Development Authority to get more funding to replace and update water lines.

“It's just modernizing the infrastructure. So that's a big part of it. As we think about the modernization of the factories, we also have to modernize the infrastructure of the towns and the counties. And it's not just roads, it's also water and sewer.”

Larry Pack | (R) West Virginia Treasurer

Weirton is under a mandatory water conservation order until March 14.
