HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) - Hancock County Commissioners met Thursday for a regularly scheduled commission meeting where they approved several notions.
The county will be advertising the opening of at least five positions for the Parks and Recreation Board, after approving the resignation of several board members during the last meeting.

In a 2-1 vote, commissioners approved a notion to advertise for an Office Assistant. Commissioners Jeff Davis and Eron Chek were in favor, and Commissioner Paul Cowey opposed.
Chek also explained some internal budget revisions during the meeting for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
"The first budget revision is regarding the volunteer fire department funding distribution. And the second one is realizing a software cost, and correcting the line item that it was in.”

For new business, commissioners made correspondence from Windfall Funding, LLC and a proposal they received from them a matter of record.
Davis explains, "Windfall is an organization that looks at expenditures and suggests where you could save money. We have not signed any agreement with them, they just sent us a proposal."
A non-disclosure agreement between the Hancock County Commission and Edmiston Development Services was approved and is effective Oct. 10.
Davis explains this is an agreement the county has with their grant writer, Joe Edmiston.
The agreement is meant to protect both parties since there could be sensitive information in county documents Edmiston Services encounters in their grant writing process.
Two new hires were approved for full-time positions at the 911 Dispatch Center, including Travis George and Jeff Luck effective Oct. 16.
The next commission meeting will take place on Oct. 24 at 2:30 p.m.
